This is a very nice spindle taper adapter for a Lathe, it looks new and I am sure it is, looks like there is still a thin coat of some cosmoline on it, there's not a scratch on it, and it is exactly like the one in the photo below but a lot nicer looking and a little larger. It is morse taper #4 on the inside and it looks to be maybe a mt 5-1/2 or possibly mt6 on the outside. It will not fit in to a mt5 female sleeve and I do not have a mt6 female sleeve to check it with. Perhaps it is mt 5.5 I am not sure, but it is definitely morse taper and not Brown and Sharpe taper. I measured the drop in diameter over a 2" distance, over 2" it has a drop in diameter of .105" Which I believe is standard morse taper. The overall length of the taper is 4.375" Outside Diameter of the Taper at the small end is 2.288" the large end measures 2.506" The name SHOWA is on it and that is it, no model number.
