Goldenrod 1 Pail/Yd (1 Pail/M)
Intergral colors provides a permanent fade-resistant, uniform, and streak free intergral coloring for all types of concrete projects. From floors, driveways, patios, stairs, hardscapes, cast-in-place, decorative concrete or precast products. These colors not only color concrete, but increase its strength, control the set time, and inprove freez/thaw resistance.
All Colors are archieved with GRAY PORTLAND CEMENT.
By utilizing pure red, yellow, and black synthetic and iron oxides, the color range has been expanded by foemulating labratory controlled tinting strength blends. Each of the colors are 95% to 99% minus 325 mesh particle size. These iron oxide are permanent, inert, stable to atmospheric conditions, sunfast, limeproof, and free of deleterious fillers and extenders. All colors comply with ASTM 979 for intergrally colored concrete and are produced with a one percent tolerance to an established plant standard.
A level of 10% color, based on weight of total cementitious material used is the color saturation point. Color added in excess of 10% will not provide additional benefits and can reduce the overall strength of the finished product. Conversely, a level of color below 1% can cause irregular coloring and a "washed out" appearance. The suggested "optimum" range is 2% to 7% pigment loading based on total cementitious material weight.
Because concrete is made from natural ingredients the color may vary if different raw materials are used from batch to batch. We recommend the use of the same material until the job is complete. (i.e. Do not switch concrete suppliers in the middle of your color project as every concrete producer uses different raw materials.)
Slump is a way of measuring how stiff or wet concrete is poured. Difference in slump between loads will produce a noticeable difference in color between loads. We recommend pouring at around a 4-4.5" slump and maintaing the same slump throughout your project.
If a set cotrolling accelerator must be used, it must be a NON-CHLORIDE accelerator. Calcium chloride and trace chloride accelerators can cause undesireable discoloration.
Prices for each integral color is by the pail. Most of the integral colors are one pail per cubic yard. Some are two pails per cubic yard. If you are using a color that uses two pails per yard you need to double the amount of concrete that your project will need to achieve desired color, (i.e. a 10 yard job with a 2 pail/Yd color you will need to order 20 pails of color.)
