The first manual is probably from the late 1940’s. It is typed on M&W Gear Company letterhead. All typed in upper case. This could well have been the first installation instruction printed. It looks like an “in-house†job. It contains 8 pages of detailed instruction, step by step, how to install the M&W 9-speed in Farmall H’s and M’s.(also W-4 and O-4) Contains photographs of the gear assemblies and very detailed diagrams of installation sequence. The photographs tend to be a bit dark and I could not improve on them much from the original. Also in the manual is a parts list and pictures of all the parts. The directions even show you how to hold the drill when making the hole for the control cable! The second “bonus†manual is a later manual on the 9-speed. It includes the Super H in the instructions, which makes it post-1952. There is some writing on this manual. This manual is more professionally done. This manual shows both the cable control and the lever (Heisler) control. It is also 8 pages. Remember, these are copies from my originals. I have tried to produce the clearest copies possible. If you have found a nice 9-speed unit and have winter plans to install it in your H, Super H, M, MD, Super M, Super-MD, W-6, W-4, or O-4, then you need these detailed instruction manuals. (Super W-6, Super WD-6 and Super W-4 are NOT referenced anywhere in the instructions or parts list, but I don't know why.)
