Yellow jacket superevac 8 cfm vacuum pump # 93580
Yellow Jacket Superevac 8 CFM Vacuum Pump. Please note: Although the above picture depicts a "6CFM" pump, this listing is for their 8CFM model 93580
115VAC 60Hz (not avail in 220VAC 50hz)
* 2-stage rotary vane design field-rated at 15 microns or better
* Exclusive built-in vacuum indicator gauge to monitor the evacuation process (Please read important notes below.).
* Internal intake check valve prevents oil back-up into the system during a power failure
* Precisely machined and assembled parts with tight clearances for a deep vacuum
* Hardened cap screws keep the pumping mechanism tight
* Large oil reservoir helps reduce operating temperature and dilute corrosive contaminants
* Gas ballast valve keeps oil cleaner, longer during evacuation of wet systems
* Heavy-duty, high torque 1/2 hp, 1725 rpm motor assures cold weather starting
* 8 motor mounted switch power cord
* Advanced engineering for quieter operation
* Rugged metal construction for long-lasting durability in the field, with no flimsy plastic parts that are easily damaged
* Updated, lighter housing with larger fins for cooler running
Important Issues concerning deep vacuum pumps and HVAC & Refrigeration Service:
Moisture: Moisture within sealed refrigeration systems cause CFC, HCFC & HFC refrigerants to break down, forming hydrochloric and hydrofluoric acids. These acids will attack the hermetic motor winding insulation and ultimately result in compressor failure. Several variations of acid test kits are available to determine the presence of acid. Pulling a deep vacuum (500 microns or less) is the only method which assures you've "boiled" off and removed all moisture from a sealed system. And a system which will hold a deep vacuum, is also leak-free.
Oil: It's the specially formulated, low vapor pressure vacuum pump oil that absorbs the moisture (water vapor) during the evacuation process, and this oil has a finite moisture capacity. This is why ALL vacuum pump manufacturers' instructions will state that it's important to change your pumps oil AFTER EVERY USE. You should be able to take your used vacuum pump oil to a local PepBoys, Jiffy Lube, etc. for recycling. Furthermore, the hygroscopic nature of polyolester (POE) refrigeration oils contained in systems utilizing HFC refrigerants (R410A - aka Carrier's PuronTM), R404A, R134A, may require multiple vacuum pump oil changes to effectively dehydrate, especially if the system has been open to atmosphere for more than a brief moment.
