This is a brand new complete set of two temperature probes and everything needed to install them including illustrated instructions, replacement cork tape, and long cleaning swabs. This is everything you need to completely replace the temperature probes in two cooling drums. This kit installs in about ten minutes per hopper. Installed in each of the cooling drums is a temperature probe (thermistor) that feeds data back to the main controller (computer) telling it how cold the cooling drum is. Based on this and other data, the main controller turns the compressor and condensor fan on and off and opens and closes the refrigerant valve for each hopper. These temperature probes occasionally fail and there was a known faulty batch that were installed in some Ultra-2 machines. SYMPTOMS: If the temperature probe fails, symptoms include failure to freeze, failure to freeze completely (partial cooling), or failure of the compressor to turn off (too much cooling). Before changing the temperature probes for these symptoms, be sure you eliminate other more common cause such as: machine not on a dedicated 15 amp circuit, product with improper brix (improper sugar or chemistry), or faulty Torque Sensor Board. Installation is simple and requires only a screwdriver. One unplugs the machine, removes the auger motor cover, unplugs the existing temperature probe, removes the existing cork tape, removes the probe from the tube (measuring how deep it is in the probe tube by marking the wire before you pull it out), cleans out the tube with the enclosed swabs, installs the new probe in the tube the proper distance, installs the new cork tape, and plugs in the new probe.
