1936 oliver hart parr 70 tractor
This is a 1936 Oliver 70 serial number 206606. Has Hart Parr on the cast iron radiator cover below the Oliver name. Tractor is believed to be complete. Engine is loose and does turn over with the hand crank . Previous owner said it was running and the head gasket was leaking so he took the head off to replace the gasket and never got around to getting it done so he set the head and manifold back on and sealed it from the weather. The rocker assembly and push rods are not in the engine but I do have them and the manifold bolts and nuts. Air cleaner assembly is off but present, I don't know if it should have a tube out the hood if so I don't believe it is present. There are no visible cracks or welds on the block on the outside, not looking on the inside as I don't want to disassemble anything.
The sheet metal is all there including all four side panels. They have surface rust and would need some minor work here and there but I believe very savable. Hood is straight and uncut. Gas tank is nice and shiny inside and straight. Battery cover is there and good, dash panel is rusted out on both sides below the battery level, I believe could be patched, the rest is good. Fenders are fairly rusted and would take a lot to save, probably best to be replaced. Not the original style seat for this year. I have another set of headlights with good lens, between the four should come up with a good set. Radiator cast cover is broke at two points, one each side of the hand crank in the corner, piece is still there and could be welded. Grill would need a little TLC but could be saved. Radiator appears good with no major problems. Original curtain still on but not to good. Carb. and mag. appear good. Exhaust manifold is broke where the muffler would go in rest appears good, don't know if saveable.
Rear tires hold air 13.6-38's weather cracked. Rims on cutoff flats with no rust out. One wheel on the inside hub has been welded, been that way a long time. Front tires need replaced, front rims are round spoke and in good condition othere than one has minor rust at valve stem, very fixable. Clutch seems to be good. The transmission is stuck in gear, I don't know what is wrong with it, probably need to remove platform to diagnose. When clutch is pushed in it rolls like it should. Gear lever moves some it just won't come out of gear. Very restorable tractor just looks kind of ugly right now. Any question I didn't answer let me know.
