Antique Kuker-Ranken Hand Level?
A vintage hand level unmarked . Although unmarked, it looks remarkably similar to a Kuker-Rankin: the design, placement and mounting of the level vial, and remarkable resemblance. This could be a prototype. The main and draw tubes are made of solid brass (see pic where the front cap is removed), and the main tube is black powder coated. Regardless, the both together have seen remarkable longevity. The level measures approximately 5 3/8" in length when closed and 7 1/4" when fully opened. The glass in the front brass cap is broken in two places but is secured by a brass O ring inside the cap. The rest of the level shows only slight signs of use and works perfectly. The lens inside is pristine and objects are perfectly visible.
The only identification is on the inside flap of the carrying case press stub marked NEWEY PRESS STUB PAT No. 201430-22 (see pic). I believe the year is 1922, but Kuker-Rankin was founded in 1928.
Next to the case belt-loop is an inked name that appears to be WOOR .
