Select a tip with an inside diameter larger than the lead diameter and an outside diameter approximately the same size as the pad. Desolder cartridges are available in two temperature ranges (600 F and 700 F). A typical board usually requires a 700 F tip. Try a 600 F tip first for thermally sensitive components or small, single-sided boards.
