CARCO WINCHES HANDLED TOUGHEST JOBS ON LARGE PIPELINE PROJECT.†The ad tells of 3 nationally known pipeline contractors sharing the construction of a difficult Pacific Northwest 26†pipeline through the mountains between Umatilla, Oregon and Chehalis, Washington. All 3 contractors used CARCO winches for towing, holding and lowering heavy equipment up and down grades as steep as 55%. The only contractor mentioned by name was THE ENGINEERS LIMITED PIPELINE COMPANY of San Francisco, who used 5 IH TD-24 tractors equipped with CARCO Model J Winches. Nicely illustrated with a b&w photo of an IH TD-24/CARCO J holding a Bucyrus-Erie 22-B Backhoe digging on a steep slope, and 2 small photos of CARCO Model J Winches at the bottom of the page. Reverse side is another 2/3-page b&w ad, this one from D. W. ONAN & SONS INC. of Minneapolis, MN, promoting the use of their ONAN ELECTRIC PLANTS for lighting mobile nightshift operations, a trailer mounted 10CW unit and a 3KW Series 3DSP Diesel unit mounted on a large Bucyrus-Erie power shovel. This is a excellent quality vintage magazine b&w advertisement, printed on shiny low gloss paper in excellent condition. All edges are good, no rips, no marks, no mildew. While paper is now 50 years old, it has yellowed very little, and the paper is still very pliable and not at all brittle as some magazine ads are. .... any questions at all, please feel free to contact me.
