This is a Multi-Elmac model A-54H, "portable" plate modulated, AM and CW transmitter with the matching power supply model PSA-500. The A-54H is slightly different than the A-54 accepting either a dynamic or a crystal microphone. The A-54H uses an 807 tube for the final amp and modulates it with a pair of 6L6 audio tubes and was made about 1952. This rig covers 75, 20, 11 and 10 meters. I have a copy of a manual to include as well as the large cable connecting the rig and the power supply. The cosmetic condition is quite nice considering age and what many of these rigs look like and I rate it a solid "B". The front panel is nice with a little wear showing around one control. The early plastic cover over the dial has some slight warpage but is not torn or cracked. Some scratches on the case have been touched up nicely. The chassis is decent with only a little corrosion showing. The Multi-Elmac model PSA-500 power supply looks as good if not better than the transmitter. I have provided large detailed photos of both the exterior and interior of the transmitter and power supply. Electronic condition of the transmitter is in need of some attention. While the transmitter works, it does not work as well as it should. Power output was measured at 11 watts CW and 30 watts AM on 75 meters. On 20 meters, power drops to .5 watts and at 10 meters, power is at .1 watts. I have done nothing beyond contact cleaner to attempt to repair this rig. My first assuption would be that the tubes are probably tired. The good news is that every ham over 60 yrs old has an 807 or two squireled away!
