An internal software program automatically adjusts the copy resolution to create pages that are often crisper and cleaner than the original. As a result, the system needs less preventative maintenance than many competitors' models to maintain consistent copy quality. A large paper capacity further enhances the line's ability to compete with other brands. Two paper drawers which hold a total of 1,100-sheets are standard on all models. Optional paper drawers and a 3,000-sheet large capacity tray can increase the paper capacity to more than 5,200 sheets on copiers that create 28 pages per minute or more. Speed is another advantage of the Smart Image Plus(TM) copiers. Each system creates the first copy, duplexes and copies pages from the document feeder up to 50 percent faster than comparable older models. Toner is saved through a built-in recycling function and the "Sky Shot" mode. "Sky Shot" customizes the shot for small checks and invoices. This mode reduces the size of the area to be copied to prevent the creation of black borders and significantly decrease toner waste. Other features include a "2 in 1" mode that copies two originals onto a single page and "Intelligent Interleaving" which inserts pages into a document as it is copied.
