The gauge is industrial surplus from a steel mill project in the early '90's according to the item owner. I have personally tested the thermometer - in ice water the thermometer read 32 degrees F right on the nose, and in boiling water the thermometer read 204 degrees F. As you know although water boils at 212, getting an immersion thermometer in boiling water to read 212 is atypical.
