This is a Heath SB-1400 Transceiver from the estate of a ham silent key and had not been used for several years. These transceivers were not sold by Heath as a kit but as a manufactured radio. This unit is essentially the same as the Yaesu FT-747GX except that the FM mode was optional in the Heath and this unit does not have the optional FM mode. It has CW, upper and lower SSB and AM, 10 through 160 meters. The full manual for the FT-747 is available for download on the web and it is my understanding that it also applies to this Heath SB-1400. The receiver works and the transmitter has full carrier power output in the AM mode. There is no microphone so I was unable to check AM modulation or SSB. However, touching the mike connector pin in SSB gives some output from hum pickup-an indication that the microphone amplifier and SSB modulator work. The 8- pin microphone connector is wired for the Yaesu microphone. There is also no power cable but the power connector is a small Jones 4-pin connector, readily available from many sources. The power input is 13.8 volts.
