COHERENT INFINITY LASER DPMO Q-SWITCHED Nd: Yag 1064nm Coherent Infinity Nd: Yag 1064nm Laser System Diode-Pumped Master Oscillator DPMO Q-Switched Nd: Yag Laser Manufactured Date: Nov 2001 Coherent Infinity Master Oscillator features: 1064nm wavelength, diode pumped solid state laser (DPSS) Ring laser capable of being operated as an ultra low noise, unidirectional ring laser [VERY SPECIAL FEATURES] Complex laser head packed with features and most of the electronics needed for the laser [VERY SPECIAL FEATURES] Q-switched, or CW (may not be unidirectional, though should be possible) Single mode in every way, including single longitudinal mode [VERY SPECIAL FEATURES] Miniature diode pumped solid state ring laser (the whole cavity is less than 2" long), trapezoidal shaped Nd:YAG crystal, using only two mirrors to form the ring cavity [VERY SPECIAL FEATURES] Sealed/protected cavity/optics [VERY SPECIAL FEATURES] Unique mode of unidirectional operation via RF driving of an intracavity acousto optic q-switch/modulator, no Faraday rotator/magnetic fields [VERY SPECIAL FEATURES] Integrated electronics for most of the system: diode laser temperature controller, diode laser power supply, acousto optic RF driver (80 MHz), cavity stabilization/pre-lasing/locking circuitry, Nd:YAG temperature controller, photo-diode monitor circuitry, power filtering, etc... When fully working and properly driven, this laser is capable of operation up to at least 100Hz rep rate, with a pulse length of less than 5 nano seconds [VERY SPECIAL FEATURES] The Q-switched output could be frequency doubled to 532nm (tripling and quadrupling into the UV, is also possible). [SPECIAL FEATURE] This laser is part of a much larger system made by Coherent. It was meant to serve as the "master oscillator," providing seed pulses to a much larger flash lamp pumped laser amplifier. [VERY SPECIAL FEATURES] The crystal, optics, pump diode, assemblies and electronics in this laser are worth many thousands of dollars at a minimum. laser has been tested and does lase, though does not meet full specifications 25mW cw output observed at 1500 ma of pump diode current (this is far below specifications) with a new pump diode we estimate that the system can probably do at least 250mW Q-switch appears not to work (thus unidirectional operation is hampered, until this is fixed) Coherent Infinity test results: - Laser diode is functional; power is lower than normal, output power is not stable (due to on-board laser control circuitry not being correctly driven by a separate system controller) Current draw oscillates on 24v supply Q-switch is or non-functional (probably needs to be replaced) Q-switch driver; unable to test, but seems operational (it does draw power) Nd:YAG Laser Characteristics, for the following pump Laser Diode currents: Opto Power OPC-PS06-A Laser diode driver connected to laser diode directly though J6 (LD). Red wire is +, Orange is -. Tektronix AFG310 Function generator driving a Rohde&Schwarz Signal Generator amplified by AR10W1000 amplifier directly connected to Q-Switch. HP6034L Power supply @ 24v. Pin 6 on DB15 on power board is 0v; pin 13 is +24v. HP6255 Power supply paralleled @5v. Outer pins on Molex connector on power board are +5v; the two center pins are 0v. This laser is perfect for a university, laser researchers, laser physicists/engineers, or a skilled laser hobbyist. ONLY FOR EXPERIENCED LASERS USERS AWARE THAT THIS LASER IS NOT A TOY AND CAN BLIND AND/OR HURT PEOPLE IF MISUSED AND CDRH/ANSI/IEC LASER SAFETY PRECAUTIONS ARE NOT ENFORCED WHEN THE LASER IS OPERATING (Coherent infinity laser dpmo q-switched nd: yag 1064NM was posted and is owned by: Felicia Pittman) |
