This is a complete Edwards active strain gauge package, providing gas independent pressure measurement from 2000 mbar to 1 mbar. The controller and sensor were tested on a clean high vacuum system. As we already had another cable readily available to use, the 3 m cable was left in its sealed plastic bag. During pump-down, indicated pressures correlated sensibly with those from a "known good" convection-enhanced Pirani gauge operated simulataneously on the same system. At high vacuum, the strain gauge was zeroed as described in the manual (was initially within 5 mbar of zero). After venting the system back up to atmospheric pressure, the pressure indicated was 1009 mbar, at which time the Weather Channel was reporting 29.90 inches of mercury, or 1012 mbar. We do not have the equipment to accurately produce positive pressures to test it at 2000 mbar, but the tests just described are sufficient to make us think that this package is functioning correctly. For a very modest additional cost, we can include a 25-foot commercial Category 5e patch cable assembly with strain relieved connectors.
