This pocket-sized book was designed small for use out in the field. The information is presented for a basic education of the various models. There are two major sections: the first provides technical information on basic agricultural models and their immediate industrial derivatives. The second is devoted strictly to crawler type tractors. Archival photos accompany Nebraska Tractor Test results, serial numbers, dates of manufacture, options, original prices, dimensions, horsepower, stroke and more! Exhaustively researched at the Floyd County Museum and Historical Society in charles City, Iowa, the Oliver Tractor Data Book details everything from serial numbers, production figures, and tune-up specifications to optional equipment, Nebraska Tractor Test data, and model variations. This book is crammed with lots of good, useful information on Oliver tractors presented in a clear, easy-to-understand format. The arrangement is largely self-explanatory, and it generally follows the same pattern for each major model grouping. Since the amount of information is so overwhelming even when organized, certain things have been abbreviated for the sake of space and formatting. Two areas that are abbreviated information are paint colors and generalized badging for the tractors. Most Oliver and related tractors were parts of a series, and each general series usually had a fairly consistent appearance throughout the series' market span. Special effort was made to cover the models that receive the most interest from collectors and enthusiasts in as much detail as possible.
