1999 ENSHU E130 Ultra-High-Speed Drill Tap Mill Center Enshu (USA) Corporation offers its highspeed E130 vertical machining center. The E130 features the PAWS workholding system. The PAWS workholding system has a grid layout of hydraulic cylinders actuating inside a fixture base plate. During the E130 development, Enshu engineers designed a rigid, multi-layered bed casting with maximum stiffness to absorb and dampen any vibrations. As a result, the E130 is capable of providing drilling, milling and tapping in steel and lightweight alloys at very fast speeds. The E130 features a proprietary Megapower 20 HP(1 minute)/8.2 HP continuous- 10,000 RPM spindle developed jointly with Yaskawa Electric. The spindle reaches 6,000 RPM in just one-tenth (0.1) of a second and reaches full speed (10,000 RPM) in 0.23 seconds. Its 12-tool ATC can change tools in one second and chip-to-chip in 2.2 seconds. Enshu can provide an optional dual 11.8 by 15.7 inch rotary-style automatic pallet changer (APC) capable of changing pallets in less than three seconds. Enshu's design utilizes a two-pallet system that eliminates vibration. The E130 is used in the telecommunications and electronics industries and for casting processing due to its 20 horsepower spindle with its 5/8 inch-11 tapping capacity in mild steel.
