.......... Attention Collectors .......... VINTAGE SURVEILLANCE EQUIPMENT Radio Receiver And Tape Recorder Receiver receives VHF Lo Band and Hi Band Self-Contained With Battery Pack This was acquired as surplus from a government agency. MFG. BY: AUDIO INTELLIGENCE DEVICES The VHF FM receiver is tuneable from 35 MHz to 51 MHz, and also has crystal-controlled channels for the Hi VHF range...... According to the labels, at least, it receives the following fixed channels: 159.728, 167.345, 167.4125, and 170.000 MHz. The receiver apparently has a COR output - the tape recorder can be set to automatically start when a carrier is received. This item is a little dirty, and has normal scuffs and scratches as would be expected of used equipment. There's some label residue here and there. I briefly tested the receiver.... It tunes Lo VHF ok - I was able to pick up some taxi services around 42 MHz. I did not have any way to test the Hi VHF..... I didn't hear any activity on those channels but the squelch noise sounds normal. The squelch and volume controls seem to work fine. The tape recorder works, but the buttons are scratchy - especially on playback. I'm sure a little use will be good for it, or perhaps some cleaning will help it. The two 6-volt gel cells are no good. They are located directly under the radio (look at the photo where the radio is moved aside). I am selling this item as an unusual collectible item. As surveillance equipment, it is obsolete in comparison with today's modern digital scanners and receivers.
