Works, but needs to be Calibrated This is a 50 MHz Pulse Generator from Wavetek. It is Model 859. It appears to work but needs to be calibrated . It is in very good cosmetic condition. Note that a power cord is included, but there are no probes or accessories. This generator powers up just fine and appears to work to some extent. There is a built-in self-test which executes on start-up, and all tests passed. A scope was connected to the output and we successfully generated an assortment of pulse configurations. However, this item needs to be calibrated. For one thing, the signal amplitude levels are somewhat off. For example, on start-up, the default signal is a 1 KHz square wave. The upper level of the wave is set for 500 milliVolts and the lower level for -500 milliVolts. The actual signal generated, however, has an upper level of approximately 300 milliVolts. Hence, we have concluded this unit needs to be calibrated. We checked the STORE/RECALL feature which allows custom settings to be stored and later recalled. It seemed to work fine. The built-in LAMP TEST was performed and all display segments lit up as expected. We also tested the push buttons on the front panel and all worked. The ventilation fan is in good shape and produces a strong airflow. We did not test every feature on this generator. However, we will guarantee this item is as described, or your money back ( details below ). This generator has a single output channel which is the standard configuration. The overall cosmetic condition of this item is very good. The display and front panel are in great shape. The case is in very good condition also, but does have a few minor blemishes. There is a carrying handle at each end of the front panel. It does not have any rubber feet on the bottom of the case, as I believe this unit had previously been rack mounted.
