Beef stock weigh tape
Compare weight gain with averages
Determine weights at weaning time, yearling, breeding, market, mature weights etc.
Place tape around animal at the heart girth just behind the front legs.
Take up slack but do not tighten excessively.
Read weight estimation on the scale.
1. THIN (NO FINISH) 96 LBS TO 1888 LBS
2. MODERATE (POORLY FINISHED) 92 LBS TO 1798 LBS
3. FLESHY (PROPERLY FINISHED) 85 LBS TO 1708 LBS
4. VERY FLESHY (OVER FINISHED) 82 LBS TO 1618 LBS
Has tips on tape to help determine animals condition.
This weight tape scale is based on small to medium-framed animals.
NOTE: Exceptionally long-bodied animals will weigh more than that is shown on tape.
NOTE: Very fleshy animals will weigh less than thin animals of the same heart girth.
1. Thin animals are very angular with visible spines, ribs and hip bones.
2. Moderate animals may show a few ribs but no excess fat in brisket or flanks.
3. Fleshy animals appear very square and smooth with no spine or ribs visible.
4. Very fleshy animals may have pockets of fat under the tail.
5. Animal needs to stand square with it's head upright, - standing with it's head down and
it's rear up will distort your reading.
6. Tape is placed around animal at smallest heart girth just behind the front legs and
pulled tight enough to lay hair flat. Practice will make this easier for you. Try for the
same amount of light snugness each time.
These Instructions are on the tape.
