Having a welder husband for a number of years, I sacrificed some of his old hats and figured out how to make them myself. They have been quite a hit with all his buddies and co-workers. I make all my caps from prewashed 100% cotton fabric purchased at my local fabric store. I don't use poly blends or cheap, warehouse-reject fabrics. They make great helmet liners for motorcyclists, bicyclists or construction workers. Excellent for anyone who wants a lightweight, absorbent cap for any reason. Even I wear one when mowing the yard. All hats are reversible to a coordinating solid color. There is no cardboard in the bill, although it is reinforced with cotton batting. Tired of wearing it? Cram it in your pocket. Dirty? Throw it in with the rest of your colored laundry. Keeps its shape and after a few washings, becomes like a favorite old bandanna. Each one is made by my loving hand when you order it, so I will need your hat size or the inch measurement around your head just above the eyebrows. Use a soft measuring tape or a string then measure the string, around the largest part of your head above the ears and eyebrows. Make sure the tape is level around the head and don't pull tight, just snug. Standard crown height is 7 to 7 1/2 inches (depending on the size of the hat), measured from the point or crown of the head down to the the edge of the hatband. This fits close to the ear and I find that most welders prefer this length as the cap stays put on the head when you pull your helmet off. Standard bill length is approx 3 inches. 1. If you don't know your US hat size, you can send your actual head measurement in inches or cm.
