This brand new and unused tubular shaft chipping hammer weighs in at around 700 g (~1.5 lb), making it ideal for work with sedimentary rocks (including fossils), and suitable for higher grade rocks (metamorphic / igneous). Its lighter weight makes it easier to carry, and permits a greater degree of control than heavier hammers. It measures about 28cm / 11" including shaft; the head is 16 cm / 6 " from head to tail and weighs 16oz. As used by Cambridge Geology students.
