This is a piece off an antique hay binder. It ran on the ground and picked the hay up before running it into the binder. There are 5 in this set and they attach to the binder on metal rods and are about 1 1/2 feet apart. There is a spring to help them 'float' along the ground. They are cast iron, made by W. Gaterman of Manitowoc, Wis, No. 1A. Patent dat of 6/27/1899, then 8/7/1900. (5 antique hay binder guard/float on the ground 1900's was posted and is owned by: Steven Floyd) |
