This heating cable is no longer produced as far as I can tell from the internet. Similar cable is produced with the designation 5BTV-CT/CR under the name Tyco/Raychem and an appropriate website page is: http:// /acatalog/h51086.pdf Reviewing its data, you will see that the major difference is that my cable lacks the chemical protection of the special outer jacket. Also, the overbrid on my cable is 50% Stainless/50%tinned copper. And, my cable is made by a different company (Dekoron). THIS MAKES IT IDEAL FOR SIMPLE HOMEOWNER APPLICATIONS SINCE IT CAN BE CUT TO THE EXACT DESIRED LENGTH!!!!! After that, simply tape it to the pipe and insulate. Then, simply isolate the wires at the unpowered end and connect power. The overbraid is intended to be electrically grounded. Aside from its very durable and reliable construction, an outstanding feature of this type of cable is that it can be permitted to cross over itself without concern for burnouts. That is why it is considered self-regulating. This type of heating cable has been the preferred system in the petrochemical industry throughout the world.
