It has selectors for center frequency, and cutoff, and other adjustments, in hertz, and K hertz. I feed a TV audio into the rear input jack. When I connected a amplified speaker into the front "BP OUT" jack I could hear audio, and played with selectors switches, and could vary pitch and types of sounds heard. But I could not hear anything from rear output jack. This came from a very high end LORAN equipment system, that sent out the LORAN signals.
